“Activity always trumps inactivity”

The Question
“Why did you start promoting your site before it was 100 percent ready to launch” asked a puzzled former colleague of mine.
The Answer
“Because activity trumps inactivity” I thought.
The Reality
Not everyone has to understand your methods.
Even less people should know your methods.
Your business is YOUR business, and you should mind it – literally.
Quote
“God’s expectation of us is that we will locate, tap into, and nurture our unique gifts. These gifts were put in us to share, and when we don’t share our God given gifts, we are denying the world something it truly needs”

If at First You Don’t Succeed
It is vital we know what our gifts are, and we use them. It is for this reason I am willing to fail, try new things, and fail again – until I have successfully tapped into my gifts and am using them to help lots and lots and lots of people.
Helping is a Natural, Authentic, Human Quality
For as long as I remember I have been helping others. I started a community reading circle when I was only 13 years old.
Some may have said “Why are you teaching these other children, some of them are not much younger than you. Why don’t you wait until you get more experience, grow up, become a ‘real’ teacher?” Others said, “Why are you doing that if you are not getting paid.”
If I listened to that line of thinking I would not have helped all the young people I was able to help along the way. I also would not have been discovered by a community leader and given my very first job – helping even more people.
Share Your Gifts
This pattern of remaining active, leading by faith, and helping people is who I am. Even though it’s our nature to live from our higher self, sometimes, if we are not careful and aware, other people can knock us down.
I have had others attack my essence. At times I have allowed myself to be weakened in the process. Usually this happens when I am caught off guard by someone I really love or respect.
Those times I have stayed stagnant or played small to appease others were detrimental to myself and the world. It is displeasing to God when we do not use our gift, and in the long run it does not preserve the friendship you are trying to appease because, what real friend would want to stop you from nurturing, growing, and sharing your gifts.
Identify & Avoid Gift Grinches
I have learned from, am mindful of, and I now make it a point to identify and avoid Gift Grinches. Gift Grinches are those people who get uncomfortable when they see you doing well. They are those people who love having you under them and fear that your success will somehow take something away from them. Gift Grinches get angry and jealous when you even attempt to do something good. These people feel like you are stealing something from them by nurturing something within you.
If you are a Gift Grinch – stop it. Not only is it unattractive, it’s robbing the world of our most valuable natural resources. You are wasting time being petty about someone else’s gifts when you should be identifying, nurturing, and sharing your own. When you live from your own higher self you will be happy to see others shine and succeed. If they are doing something similar to you, that’s amazing, you guys are aligned in purpose and will make an even bigger impact on our world. We need all the good SoulJahs we can get using their gifts and improving the world. Be happy when you see a fellow SoulJah out there improving life for themselves and others, that’s amazing.
If you know a Gift Grinch you need to name them and stay away from them. They will suck your energy for themselves, leave you depleted, and when you do something positive, will make you feel horrible about it. It’s as if they are pouring acid on your flower bed. Gift Grinches are hazardous to your health – stay away from them.
Action + Failure = Lessons & Lessons Over Time = Wisdom & Success!
I enjoy giving back and am always working on new and exciting ways to improve the world one person at a time; this is something I believe I will always do. Now that I have more maturity and insight, I give in more structured and sustainable ways. This wisdom could not have come unless I was already in action, learning from my successes, and my failures.
My grandma always told me “It is okay to fail, so long as you do not quit” she was a very wise woman – Jessica Tha Goddess.

Don’t Hate, Congratulate
Along the way I came to learn why I am never jealous. I have always had great friendships and relationships. I have always been happy for people when I see them win. I have always truly wanted the best for others. So, when I see others get angry when I, or someone I know, is winning it truly puzzles me.
Sure, sometimes I look at someone and admire them, respect what they are doing, or even get inspired by them.
“I feel like the ability to inspire others is such a beautiful gift“
Jessica Tha Goddess
Never do I think “I want that exact thing for myself.” Instead, I allow that inspiration to fuel my drive, so that I can tap even deeper into my own beautiful gifts. It helps me ensure I am nurturing, loving, and manifesting my own gifts at a speed that feels right to me.
Instead of feeling jealous, on the contrary I feel thankful for the inspiration I received. I see that person as an ally and perhaps in the future we may even get to work together, or at least have a tea and a great discussion. Embrace greatness; I shake its hand and say “Nice to meet you, I’m Jessica Tha Goddess, I see you are great and it’s amazing to meet another enlightened soul, welcome!” That’s a winning attitude, and how we make the world a better place.
Mind Your Business
I always live by my own quote “mind your business.”
Okay, maybe I didn’t invent the quote, but I live it so much that it feels as if I did.
When I am getting too involved in someone else’s life, where it’s preventing me from living my own, I gently remind myself to MIND MY BUSINESS.
Image our lives were little stores, and you were always at your friend’s store talking about their inventory, chatting with their customers, and helping them open and close…what would happen to your store?
Sure, your friend is happy. He or she has company at their store, someone to ‘share’ this great experience with; but at the end of the day, that same friend will empty the till, put cash in their own pocket, and leave.
Even if they break off a couple bucks and say thank you…how does that compare to you running your own store, serving your own customers, and taking home your own big fat pocket of cash? It doesn’t! Why would you want someone’s broken off scraps? It’s time you make your own big meal!
When you are gossiping, chilling, and checking other people just make sure you are balanced, and that you are MINDING YOUR BUSINESS! If not, you may return to find an eviction notice on your store – and that’s 100% real talk!
Five Steps to Start Living Your Best Life TODAY!
- Start Now – remember active trumps inactive every time!
- Be Willing to Fail – I don’t know any uber-successful person who does not have lots of stories about their failures…but they also have uber success
- Never Give-Up – you will fail, have tough days, and want to throw in the towel at times…but you need to Rocky the heck out of that mission and make it to the top of the stairs every morning no matter what!!
- Mind Your Business – listen, everyone needs down time with friends, and if in moderation this is cool. However, if you are spending too much time chatting others, helping others (outside of your business), watching Netflix and chilling, or just scrolling social media then you are not MINDING YOUR BUSINESS. That means no one is minding your business – because if you don’t who will? That means you have no business. Without a business you have no profits. Without profits you are broke! Do you want to be physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially BROKE? No? Then mind your business!
- Trust the Process – remember my reading circle, I just saw a need and met it. It turned into something that got our community two rent-free recreation rooms and an ongoing program. Also, it led to paid employment before I was even old enough to be employed in a leadership position. This blessing began my career as a community leader. However, I had no idea that would happen, all I knew is I wanted to help kids like me. Today, I am still working to help people like me. I don’t have all the answers or know everything; but I do trust the process. Trusting the process keeps me growing personally, professionally, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and in every other area of my life. Trust the process.
