8 Steps to Attracting Wealth

Mastering and Leveraging Your Talent for Wealth Development

By Jessica Tha Goddess

Step 1 – Choose a Direction

I always wanted to be excellent. As a people pleaser, I also always wanted to make everyone else happy.

Everyone needs different things to be happy, so I became pretty good at many things: hair braiding, resume building, advice giving, business development, event planning, administration; you name it I became better than most…but not THE BEST.

To be THE BEST at something, that thing must be YOUR THING. It must be something you dedicate yourself to, you want to do, and you do it even when others are pulling you in a different direction.

People pleasing pulled me off track many times.

Eventually, after lots of bumps and bruises, I narrowed my focus, and learned to tell people NO if.

Step 2 – Understand the Difference between Success and Wealth

I have been a day camp supervisor, drama teacher, youth worker, Communications specialist, Fundraiser, Traffic Operations Manager, Community Liaison, Settlement worker, and a Casting Agent among other things. I have developed a LOT of skills. I can braid your hair, shovel your driveway, draft your presentation, throw you a party, and teach you how to dramatically make an entrance to that party – MAWD SKILLZ!

The thing is, when you want to be ‘successful’ those skills help. I made money, and friends along the way – great! However, when you want to be WEALTHY those skills are distractions from what your focus should be – MASTERY!

Step 3 – Decide to Become a Master

Now, if you are Successful you may not be Wealthy, but if you are Wealthy, I am pretty sure you will feel quite Successful.

The rest of this article is for people who want to become Wealthy!

Wealth is often achieved a few ways:

Inheritance

My parents bolted when I was born leaving me with nothing but the clothes on my back…FACTS…so I absolutely did not grow up with the benefit of a Trust Fund, and I would guess that while many parents didn’t leave like mine did, they likely were not able to lavish their children with riches either. You don’t just inherit financial wealth from your parents, you often inherit a wealth, or poverty, mindset. I grew up in poverty – guess which mindset I work to rid of daily! That’s okay, we are grown up now and we can shed the limiting beliefs that held us back – life is good.

Lottery

Hey Big Money Big Money Big Money come on BIGGGG MONEYYYY!!! Most of us will NOT win the Lottery…sucks, I know. Play for fun but understand this is not a sound wealth development strategy. I promise you that this next strategy helps make a lot more millionaires than the lottery ever has.

Mastery

Notice I didn’t say HARD WORK. It is implicit that if you are to master something then hard work would be involved; but you also need a host of other skills to achieve the mastery that will attract abundance into your life.

Upon review of how wealth is often, not always, achieved I bet you would agree that most do not inherit wealth or win the lottery. This means us common folk are left with one way out of the poverty or middle-class existence we were born into – and that way is MASTERY!

Skills Needed to Achieve Mastery and Attract Abundance

You are only as rich as the value you create and share with the universe, and the number of people you help.

  • Gratitude
  • Focus
  • Commitment
  • Determination
  • An ability to fail and get back up
  • The ability to ignore, or be fueled, by haters
  • Ability to persevere in the face of doubt
  • Ability to lose as many times as it takes to win
  • Ability to stay humble after you won
  • Knowledge of your own worth
  • The grit to demand what you are worth and hold firm
  • The humility and insight to know when to be flexible and bend
  • The common sense to understand that sometimes you have to take an L in the beginning to get a W in the end
  • The personality and professionalism to collaborate and work with others
  • The desire to be of service to many people – you are only as rich as the value you produce in the universe, and the number of people you help

Step 4 – Mastering Mastery

What would you like to be the master of?

I have struggled with that question for many years.

I am so passionate about so many things. I have always been excited by life, curious about its kaleidoscope of possibilities, and genuinely in love with learning new things. Those qualities combined makes this Jessica a ‘Jack’…in a sense. I do not want to be a Jack of All Trades. I want to be a Jessica Tha Goddess of select mastered skills.

Focus

If you are like me, you may have trouble choosing what to dedicate yourself too. I have learned that zest for life can be a blessing, and a curse. As fun and interesting as it is, it’s financially unrewarding if your goal is true wealth, and it is kryptonite to one of the most important mastery skills…FOCUS!

Learning from Others

Sometimes we see so clear when helping others, but when it comes to ourselves it is harder to find clear answers. If you are experiencing that, I want to give you advice no one gave to me…consider yourself holistically.

When helping my son decide what to do with his future, I asked him one simple question – what do you love? He was choosing between Art, Mechanic, and Chef. He was considering pay scale, job market, and a host of other factors.

I boiled it down to one question, “what do you love!”

Do What You Love

“If you love it Tre, you will stick with it, and master it. That will make you wealthy and successful” I said. “However, if you are not sure, you may change your mind, or you may finish and be miserable. I never want my son to be miserable. Please choose what you LOVE!”

I urged him to go with passion, and he did. Today, I watch this incredible young man focus on his art every single day. He lives his art. I would say he is art!

THAT is Mastery! He may be young, but I know he will be successful and wealthy because he has the magic formula – the same formula I am only just learning to master myself.

Sometimes we see so clear when helping others, but when it comes to ourselves it is harder to find clear answers. If you are experiencing that, I want to give you advice no one gave to me…consider yourself holistically.

Step 5 – Mastery, the Holistic Way

Considering myself holistically played a big role in choosing a direction and mastering mastery for me.

I discovered that I suffered from sever panic and anxiety disorder. This was linked to childhood trauma.

How my anxiety impacted me (and still does, I just am aware of it and manage it now) was that every time success knocked on my door – I could not breathe! I would be like “go away success, not now, come back later – when I’m ready,” but I would never be ready.

Be Aware of Your Limits, and Work to Overcome Them

Being aware of my anxiety and how it impacts me means that I can stop it from getting in the way of my success. It’s not easy to talk about but I want to help others because I know how powerful understanding this solution has been for me.

For years anxiety stopped me from demanding what I am worth in life. It made me play small and make do. That is no way to live. Anxiety is not something you can fully get rid of, or I have not found a way, but there are techniques you can use to help you so that you can fully enjoy your life and become your best self.

My anxiety is not my fault, I have had it for as long as I can remember, and I developed it because of the sever abuse and neglect I suffered as a child. Even though it is not my fault, it is something I live with; and therefor I need to consider it, and how it impacts me as I strive to achieve success, mastery, and wealth in my life. By considering it, I disarm it and can find balance, and finally COMFORTABLY embrace new experiences.

Step 6 – Get Focused

Ultimately I decided to focus my attention only on helping, up-lifting, and inspiring others through Entertainment, Education, Entrepreneurship, and Real Estate.

I have a tight mission that includes skills I have been good at for many years, and that I truly love. I may have started the mastery portion journey later than I would have liked – but with so much insight, dedication, focus, and true joy in my heart I know I will love this journey – and achieve the amazing results I desire.

Step 7 – Be Patient

Impatient people lack the loyalty needed to master anything and will jump ship at the sight of every shiny new idea.

Do you remember your parents telling you “patience is a virtue?” Well they were right.

I spoke about people pleasing and lack of focus as barriers to mastery, which is required for wealth development. Another barrier is lack of patience.

I experienced this for years. I stopped people pleasing and learned the art of putting me first. I uncovered route issues for self-sabotage and I found ways to manage my anxiety. I learned about nutrition, fitness, and a balanced approach to working – and understood how critical that is to sustained success in mastery. Now, with all this newfound knowledge I was very eager, aka IMPATIENT, to get that success…and WEALTH…that was coming to me.

Starting in the Negative

Some of us start with MINUS points in life, that is just how it is.

When you start behind the 8-ball and you finally build some momentum it is difficult to stick with it.

You have lost at so much in life and it’s hard to believe that your fortune will change if you only ‘STICK to THE PLAN’ master that skill, and eventually WIN!

It’s hard to believe. You have been poor. You have suffered. You have been neglected, abused, mistreated, disrespected, taken for granted, under rated, underappreciated, forgotten, left behind WHY would you believe your fortune was going to change by making this ONE SIMPLE LITTLE SHIFT IN LIFE…FOCUS…MASTER!!!

I absolutely understand how you feel!

I have been there.

I started with minus 100!

I get it.

I have always felt like I am digging myself out of a hole.

If some are born with trust funds, I felt I was born with a DisTrust Debt!

I get it…but let me ask you this…what do you have to loose?

Step 8 – Becoming a Master

You already feel behind. You already don’t believe. So, what if you just choose something, consider yourself holistically, love and nurture yourself so you can last the long-haul needed to get to the finish line, focus, and master master master?

What do you have to lose?

I am 85% sure that if you do this and do not waver you will win.

Stay Patient & Trust the Process

The thing about patience, and why it is critical, is that you will give up right before your big win if you do not have patience.

Impatient people lack the loyalty needed to master anything and will jump ship at the sight of every shiny new idea. You can’t jump ship and also gain wealth through mastery – that is not possible. You must be a loyal leader forging a very focused path ahead to gain the pot of gold at the end of the Mastery Rainbow.

If you can commit to this and to only focus on what you are mastering, you will win! I look forward to hearing about your success…and your wealth!!!
