About Jessica Tha Goddess
Everyone has a story, this is mine. YevOne is a creation that has been forming, shaping, and growing over years – possibly over my entire existence. While I intentionally created this world, YevOne, to motivate, educate, uplift, and inspire ANYONE with a desire to improve their business, their lifestyle, and most importantly themselves – the inspiration for this vision came from my own up-bringing in the hood, and amazing people met along the way. It was not obvious to me while growing up that I could become more than I saw around me. Don’t get me wrong, I saw a lot, but it was a lot of what I did not want to be. Honestly, it wasn’t until I was in junior high, and International Reggae Artist Snow really blew up, that realized “holey ish – you CAN make it off the block!!!” That was a major OMG moment for me. Snow was someone I grew up seeing in my neighborhood, in my backyard, in my home. He was someone like me, who came from Allenbury Gardens – but he was someone who also made it out. That got me thinking…maybe I can make it out too. At the time I didn’t need riches just safety, a comfortable life, and a profession that let me hold my head high. I have accomplished that and more. With an education in Corporate Communications and Business Development, years of Community Development experience, as well as Corporate Training, Real Estate, Life Coaching, and Organizational Development experience I wanted a way to bring my various skills and experiences together to help myself, and others. I knew that by creating this community I too would have a place to go to discuss tips to improve life in a low-key, calm, yet impactful way. This is the sum of my life. All the pain, all the glory, coming together to make something that I hope betters us all. My beautiful Grandmother Audrey always said – try and leave the world better than you found – and that is what I am trying to do with YevOne! Jessica Speaks on Importance of Key Areas for Improvement
I cried the first time I heard the song Perfect by Headly "I'm not perfect, but I'll keep trying, because that's what I said I will do from the start..." I remember pulling over and just bawling.
Yet, something about Headly saying "but I'll keep trying" was so beautiful and pure. It's how I live my life. I am not perfect. I do keep trying. That is what I said I would do from the start...to my grandma, to my son, to God, to myself!
My acute awareness of my own imperfections have made me an Empath. I feel so deeply for others. I love so deeply. Perhaps best of all - I see perfection in others all around me. More accurately, I see value in everyone. I see God's gifts and gems inside us all - and it's beautiful.
I have dedicated my life to identifying and nurturing my internal gems. I am also committed to helping others identify and nurture the best parts of themselves.
Every morning I wake up and ask myself how I can improve today. I am gentle. I choose small steps I know I can achieve, and I take those steps. If I miss one today, I get it tomorrow. I stay committed.
As you identify your gems, and stay committed, we can learn, grow, and get 'there' together.
Imagine a world where all our God-given internal gifts are identified, maximized, put to use, and shine for the world to see. That's a world I want to live in.

After going to school for Business Development and Corporate Communications I began helping people start small businesses. I have consulted professionally since 2001. I did it because I love to help others. I saw people who others would not hire, or who wanted to improve their lives and I knew entrepreneurship would help them develop their individual gifts and live on their terms. My way to create social justice was to teach others to hire themselves. I also consulted to Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. I understand business. I understand that micro-businesses make up a huge part of our economy. If you are a person with a dream; if you can start small and grow slow - then you have all the seeds you need to create success in your life.

Simply defined, lifestyle is the way in which a person lives. After spending almost two decades helping people improve their businesses (via my consulting company) and improve themselves (via years of community development and mentorship) why would I turn my sights to also helping people improve the way they live?
Experience has taught me - they are all connected.
When I worked at Queen's Park as a new graduate I worked in the office of the Premier.
This was a pretty impressive post for a 23 year old single mother who lived in the hood.
The thing is, I felt like a fish out of water.
I was chronically late. While I had many excuses, the truth is my lifestyle was different - and a lot less stable than the middle-aged married people I worked with.
Talent got me my job, but I needed a much more stable, predictable, mature lifestyle to consistently excel at it. This is a socio-economic, social, and class issue that many people do not talk about. It's critical so I will address it in our media.
Eating right, exercising, having a bed-time, having funds in the bank, having a support system that was consistent and reliable for my son and I - none of that was a given and all of that affected my ability to perform consistently at work.
Lifestyle impacts health, wealth, professionalism, relationships, network, and net-worth. It will impact how you look, feel, and how you are looked upon by others.
It can make you - and it can break you. That is why I could not dedicate my life to helping people improve themselves and their businesses without also addressing lifestyle.
Don't worry - lifestyle is also fashion, and fun. It's everything about HOW WE LIVE. Balance is key. While I will always share my thoughts, opinions, and insights - we are very much learning together and I am excited to take this journey with you.
